What’s it like to go camping with just knowing one or two people or not knowing anyone at all? In the book “There’s A Bat in Bunk Five,” by Paula Danzigar. A girl named Marcy is going to a creative art’s camp. Marcy was invited from her former teacher and she will be a CIT. The book mostly followed Comedy of Mode of Literature. It follows the characteristics, purpose and the plot line of Comedy.
The book follows Comedy in the plotline of Mode of Literature. The first point on the plot line is “Normal Everyday Life.” In the beginning, Marcy has a normal life. Goes to school, has homework, hangs out with her friends.“Main Character: cause a minor conflict/problem.” Is the next point on the plotline. What happens to lead into the problem is that Marcy’s former teacher invited Marcy to be a CIT at a camp based on all Art. Marcy is so excited. Later on she meets all the kids until, one of the kids, named Ginger is a spoiled little brat returns to camp. Everyone says she’s mean and rude. Marcy doesn’t pay attention to her because of how mean Ginger is. Well the problem is when Ginger runs away. After the problem has been stated the next point is “Conflict is realized.” The conflict that is realized is when Marcy figures out were Ginger could be hiding. Marcy was freighted. Always thinking she could of been nicer to Ginger. Marcy saw all the money Ginger brought was gone. She could be anywhere by then. So the “Resolution,” is how Marcy found Ginger. Ginger was in a small town called Woodstock waiting for a bus. The town was right outside of the camp. Later, Ginger soon realized how she was being a brat to everyone and that everything isn’t about her. Ginger and Marcy walked back to the camp and all the way back to there cabin. Later on Ginger said she was sorry to all the campers and councilors. After all that is cleared up, Marcy goes home and tells her parents about camp. Camp lasted the whole entire summer. Back to “Normal Everyday Life,” School is about to start soon.
Even though the story follows the plotline of Comedy, it even follows the characteristics and the purpose. The purpose in the book was to make us know how to solve our own problems. For an example, Marcy is fourteen, same age as me. For the whole summer she goes to camp without her family. The characteristics are that threw out the story it was realistic. It almost felt as if I was at camp as Marcy or I was even a camper. Marcy was a CIT, I can relate to her because this summer, I will be going to camp and I will be a CIT. The other characteristic is that Marcy in the story is in control. Marcy has another councilor live with her named Corrine. Corrine in the middle of the book gets poison ivy and she is sent home. So it was up to Marcy to take care of all the campers living in her cabin.
The book I read was “There’s A Bat in Bunk Five.” I thought it was based off Comedy out of the Mode of Literature because it followed the plot line, characteristics, and the purpose. The purpose was mainly about how Marcy had to take control of the camp and take care of herself and the people around her. She needed to learn to be a adult, is not just being off on your own but it’s also about being mature and be responsible.
